Gordon MP, Malcolm Bruce and Scotland's Liberal Democrat Member of the European Parliament visited farmers' markets in Ellon and Huntly last Saturday.

"We were both impressed with the quality and range of products on offer. In Ellon it appears that the opening of Tesco has adversely affected business in the short term but I hope customers will support stall holders who are offering local, very fresh produce," said Mr Bruce.

Miss Attwooll added, "Huntly was very varied and busy. I enjoyed the singing of the local school children and was sorry I could not stay for the Ronald Center concert which looked enjoyable.

Mr Bruce concluded, "Of course farmers' markets are no substitute for fair farm gate prices but they do offer local people the chance to support local producers and appreciate what the area has to offer."
